Jason McGill, MBA, CPA, FCEP

Jason joined Thompson & Associates in 2013 after years of working with nonprofits as an auditor.  Working closely with nonprofits, he was regularly confronted with the struggles they face that kept them from fulfilling their mission to the level they were capable of.  He joined Thompson & Associates because he saw an opportunity to work with an organization whose focus on the needs and values of individuals inspires them to see the profound impact they are able to make for causes they love.

His work is influenced by his philosophy that what truly bring us happiness is what we are able to give away.  When we hoard our love, time and resources we are left with nothing of real value to share with those that we love.

Jason’s approach to estate planning is closely aligned with Thompson & Associates’ unique model. He, along with the company’s leadership and roster of dedicated representatives, believes that when estate planning is done correctly it is about providing people with an opportunity to pass on their values as well as their assets.  Jason gets great pleasure in being able to work with individuals to develop estate plans that provide future security, leave a legacy for loved ones, and establish transformative gifts to nonprofit organizations.

After moving from Vancouver Island, British Columbia where he was raised, Jason received a Master of Business Administration from California State University-San Bernardino.  He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Fellow with the Charitable Estate Planning Institute (FCEP), and involved with the Northwest Planned Giving Roundtable.

Jason spent 5 years auditing nonprofit organizations around Portland, Oregon, after which he served as the chief financial officer (CFO) for the Washington County Visitors Association.

Jason and his wife, Heidi, were married in 2007 and live in Hillsboro, Oregon.  They have since added a son and a daughter to their family which are just two more reasons why estate planning plays an important part in his life.  When outside the office, Jason attempts to stay active playing competitive volleyball, serves at his church, and volunteers with Financial Beginnings, an organization that seeks to educate High School and Elementary students about financial concepts.
