Cathy Sheffield, MBA, CAPĀ®, CSPG, CFRE

Cathy joined Thompson & Associates in 2017 ­­­with a primary focus on serving the nonprofit community in the North Texas area.  Cathy brings more than 20 years of nonprofit fundraising experience to her consultant role at Thompson & Associates, with an emphasis in healthcare and higher education major and planned gifts and foundation administration.

Cathy served as Foundation Director at All Saints Health Foundation, the Foundation supporting Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth, the third largest medical center in the Baylor Scott & White Health system.  Prior to All Saints Health Foundation, Cathy worked for Texas Health Resources Foundation which supported Texas Health Resources System’s 16 hospitals.  Cathy has also worked for Cook Children’s Health Foundation, Texas Christian University, the University of Texas at Arlington, and in Washington, D.C. for United States Senator Byron L. Dorgan of North Dakota.  

Cathy received her MBA from Texas Christian University’s Neeley School of Business and a Bachelor of Science from North Dakota State University.  Cathy is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®), Certified Specialist in Planned Giving (CSPG), and a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE).  Cathy has been quoted in The NonProfit Times and was a contributing advisor in The Advisory Board Company’s 2008 Published Report: Leaving a Legacy: Realizing the Potential of Planned Giving in Development Strategy. Cathy is also a frequently requested presenter and travels nationally to speak to planned giving and estate planning roundtables and councils. 

Cathy is the current Board Chair of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (formerly the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning), served as the 2015 Chair of the National Conference on Philanthropic Planning, and is a member of the CGP Leadership Institute.   Locally, Cathy is a member and past president of the Lone Star Council of CGP (Fort Worth) and a member and past officer of the North Texas Chapter of CGP (Dallas).  In 2015, Cathy was honored by the Fort Worth Metro Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals with The Ben Franklin Award for the Outstanding Professional Fundraising Executive, the highest professional honor she has received.

Cathy is married to Scott and enjoys spending time with Scott and her 10-year old grandson, Mason.
